“Giant Gives Life to Save 2 — Strength Holds Back Lift Settling on Weaker Mates.”
Daniel J. Lynch was only 22 years old, but he was six feet tall and weighed more than 200 pounds – a muscular giant, fellow workers in the building at 43 West Fourth street, called him. As an engineer in the building, he went into the elevator pit with two other workmen Friday afternoon to fix the elevator machinery. The elevator, out of commission, had been stopped at the first floor.
As the men leaned over the machinery, the elevator, unnoticed began to settle down into the shaft. Moving slowly it reached the height of the heads before the men knew their danger.
They shouted for help and Lynch braced himself, making a bridge of his own body to protect the frailer men. The car was stopped as it was crushing upon them.
The injuries that Lynch suffered caused his death yesterday at St. Vincent's Hospital. One of the other men suffered injuries to his spine and the third one a fracture of the collar bone. Lynch lived at 306 West 126th street.

The Immigrants
These newcomers sport an intriguing sound with an incantatory edge not too far short of compelling...
The Immigrants
Their melodic instincts are quite keen and the vocalist's phrasing is original and chuck full of irresistible hooks. The next Morphine?
The Immigrants
Amazingly unpretentious music from this duo... if you like smart pop delivered in a straight forward fashion with no frills or gimmicks, you'll want to check out The Immigrants...
The Immigrants
My favorite tunes here are "Jackie Boy," "Changemaker," and "Shot to Pieces." This here thing goes to show how cool underground music really can be.
